Proof of Ownership & Asset Provenance Guide

Understand key documentation required to prove legal ownership and verify clean title across various collateral asset types. Crednip does not verify ownership documents or clear titles.

The Importance of Clean Asset Title

Pledging or accepting an asset as collateral requires absolute proof that the borrower is the sole legal owner of the item and that the asset is free of encumbrances, bank liens, active EMI hypothecation, or legal disputes. Crednip does not perform title checks or legal verification. Marketplace participants must review original ownership documentation thoroughly before executing agreements.

Ownership Proof Required by Asset Class

Essential ownership documentation varies across asset categories: • Vehicles (Cars, Bikes, Trucks): Original Registration Certificate (RC Book), active insurance policy, tax tokens, NOC from bank (if previously financed), and Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate. • Electronics & Smartphones: Original tax invoice in the seller's name, original packaging box matching the device IMEI / serial number, and government photo ID. • Gold & Fine Jewelry: Original jeweler tax invoice showing buyer name, BIS hallmark certificate, and valuation certificate. • Luxury Watches: Original stamped guarantee card / certificate matching case serial numbers, sales invoice, and authorized service booklets. • Real Estate Property: Original registered sale deed, encumbrance certificate (EC), property tax receipts, title search report, and approved building plan.

Disclosing Liens, Financing, and Hypothecation

Attempting to pledge an asset that is currently under bank hypothecation, unpaid store credit, active carrier financing, or shared family ownership without full written authorization is illegal. Always request: 1. Bank No-Objection Certificate (NOC) if the asset was previously financed. 2. Encumbrance Certificate for real estate to verify zero outstanding mortgages. 3. IMEI / Serial Number Check for electronics to verify zero carrier lock or theft reports.
